UN says it is cooperating with Trump's Gaza 'Board of Peace' 

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said the UN is cooperating “actively” with US President Donald Trump’s 'Board of Peace' on Gaza reconstruction. He also described the initiative as largely a personal project of Trump and questioned its broader purpose beyond Gaza.

He said the UN supports the specific reconstruction objective approved by the Security Council but criticized the wider ambitions of the board. Guterres argued that global crises should still be addressed through established multilateral frameworks based on international law and the UN Charter.

Guterres also said he has not spoken directly with Trump since the war on Iran began, though he has been in contact with other US officials. He emphasized the UN’s role in preventing escalation in conflicts such as tensions in the Strait of Hormuz, citing past mediation efforts like the Black Sea grain deal.
